Ears actually consist of three parts – inner, middle and outer ear – and are important not just for hearing but for balance when stationary and when moving and eye tracking, among other things. That is why blocked ears constitute a problem which can be more than just irritating.
Blocked ears are most often caused by a buildup of ear wax, that natural protective oil created by the glands in the ear canal.
We will teach you how to clean a blocked ear thoroughly in a completely natural and inexpensive way.
Keep on reading to find out how to do it quickly and efficiently.
Natural home remedy to clean and unblock your ears
Normally wax falls out of your ear by itself, but it can sometimes get hard or pushed too deep into the ear canal and block your ear. When this happens, you may be advised to take certain medicaments that only have an effect on the outside of the ear.
Now we’d like to teach you how to prepare a natural home remedy that will help unblock your ear and improve your hearing, without spending a lot of money and time since the two ingredients are things that all of us usually have on hand – white vinegar and alcohol.
Its usefulness is due to the fact that both components are believed to possess disinfectant, antibacterial, antibiotic and antimicrobial properties.
We prove step by step instructions to enable you to make this remedy in your own home.
- 1 tablespoon of alcohol
- ½ tablespoon white vinegar
- Put the vinegar and alcohol in a dish
- Blend them until they are well mixed
- Put the bland in a dropper
- Put 10 drops in the affected ear with the head tilted up and keep this position for one minute
- Repeat the procedure with the opposite ear
- You can do this twice a week
Keep in mind that this treatment is only for minor issues like ears being blocked from swimming or being in water and wax buildup. If the problem is more severe and longer lasting, you should see a medical professional. If you do this treatment at home and the pain persists for more than 3 days, you should seek a doctor’s attention.
How to tell if you’ve got wax buildup in your ear
The wax in ear canals is there to prevent outside agents such as dust, bacteria and other little organisms or even objects getting into the actual ear.
It also guards against the outer pores and skin of the canal becoming irritated by contact with water. Sometimes, however, more wax is produced than is needed and this can lead to blockages.
Signs and symptoms of ear blockage:
- Feeling of fullness or that the ear is ‘plugged’
- Noise in the ear canal
- Reduced hearing
Other ways of treating blocked ears
Apart from the remedy with white vinegar and alcohol, you may also clean your ears at home using other techniques. Some other ways to soften the actual wax and make it easier for removing is to use baby oil, glycerin, paraffin, warm water or mineral oil.
Just remember that you should always dry the ear after cleaning it. You can use a few drops of alcohol or simply use a hairdryer at low / cool heat.
Finally, if your ears are still blocked after trying these techniques, a doctor will help you remove the blockage through a suctioning method, using a microscope or with a gadget called a curette.
